"We've been running the FC-2 (O2) and the CA-2 (CO2) continuously for 10 weeks. Everything worked flawlessly and we have been especially impressed with the stability of the CA-2A..." -- Mark Chappel & Ted Garland, UC Riverside

Community Involvement

Sable Systems International is an active member of the international scientific community. Our contributions take many forms, such as:

Sponsoring prestigious scientific awards. For example, we are the sole corporate sponsor of the Bartholomew Award, named in honor of one of the twentieth century's greatest, most influential comparative biologists.

Sponsoring student prizes at scientific meetings. We sponsor Best Presentation and Best Poster competitions at scientific meetings, providing encouragement and support for the next generation of leading scientists.

Sponsoring scientific meetings. On a case by case basis, we make substantial contributions to smaller meetings in need of corporate sponsorship. For all the meetings at which we exhibit, our booth fees help to reduce the cost of the meeting for the contributing scentists and graduate students.

Assisting with research preparation. As part of our lifetime technical support, we often provide advice and analysis to junior and senior scientists that exceed in scope and depth anything generally available from paid consultants. This is a dual function of the fact that we have in-depth scientific backgrounds ourselves, and that we consider the work and satisfaction of our customers to be all-important.

Teaching. Our respirometry courses are uniquely valuable resources for anyone needing a jump-start in respirometry. Their cost is kept as low as possible, and is very low cost to purchasers of our systems. In addition, we hold our teaching facilities open to participants for a further week at no charge for individual projects.

Seed data support. Many scientists are caught in a catch-22: They can propose a research project, but can't get funds until they prove that they can do the work. Meanwhile, they can't prove they can do the work until they get the funds for the necessary equipment. On a case by case basis, we allow scientists access to the full stock of research-grade equipment in our teaching laboratory and provide the additional logistical support required to generate seed data for grant applications.

Basic Research Initiative. We have ongoing collaborations with scientists who work with our personnel in our in-house laboratory to produce basic research that is presented at scientific meetings world-wide, and published in leading peer-reviewed journals. Here is a representative example.

We plan to expand our direct and indirect contributions in due course, as time and opportunity allow. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact us .
