 The FlowBar-8(tm) is a multi-channel mass flow meter designed primarily for push mode respirometry applications. It solves the problem of providing
accurately measured mass flow rates to multiple locations, such as
respirometer chambers in a multi-animal system. Mass
flow rates are automatically compensated for temperature and pressure,
and yield STP flow rates without further calculation. Flow rates are
set with precision needle valves. The FlowBar is available with eight
or four channels.
Each linearized mass flow meter is
individually calibrated from 10 to 2000 ml/minute using over 100 data
points. All flow rates are visible simultaneously on the 4-line
display. Voltages proportional to mass flow rates are available from
BNC connectors. The FlowBar can also eavesdrop on signals from our flow
multiplexer, selecting the flow rate corresponding to the selected flow
channel. A serial flow rate output is also available.
The input gas flow can be from any
source, such as a pump, gas cylinder or compressor. An optional
internal pump with variable drive is available.
Each meter can be individually re-calibrated by the user, if desired. The FlowBar is unique in its combination of functionality
and accuracy.
