Insect/Arthropod Respirometry IA-1 Print

Our IA-1 insect and arthropod respirometry system is highly optimized for use with small animals, and produces real-time oxygen consumption and CO2 production data from animals down to small crickets in size. Alternatively, if used in stop-flow mode, it can measure animals down to individual Drosophila in size (note that for real-time measurement of Drosophila MR, the SI-1 small insect system is required).

The IA-1 insect and arthropod respirometry system can be used in push, pull mode or stop-flow mode. It is available with an optional water vapor pressure analyzer for flow and dilution compensation without requiring scrubber chemicals, and for water loss rate measurement.

The IA-1 insect and arthropod respirometry system is normally supplied with both oxygen and carbon dioxide analyzers, and measures oxygen consumption rate, CO2 production rate, RQ, and water loss rate. Using RQ, the respiratory substrate of the test animal can be determined, allowing accurate translation of gas exchange measurements to energy equivalents, e.g. Watts, Joules/hr or calories/day.

Data acquisition is fully automatic, using our acclaimed ExpeData™ software, the product of over twenty years' experience in computerized data acquisition and analysis. Complete user control over every aspect of the system's operation is supported. Baselining is fully automated. Optionally, multiple animals can be measured in sequence. The analysis of acquired data is uniquely flexible and can also be fully automated, if desired. The respirometry equations used in the system are state-of-the-art.

All necessary tubing and accessories are supplied with the system. Lifetime technical support by published experts in respirometry is included.
