ROXY-8 Overview Print
roxy-8.jpgThe ROXY-8™ is a stand-alone multi-cabinet oxygen controller and oxygen regulator. It can maintain hypoxic or hyperoxic control in any combination in up to eight cabinets. Because it uses a gold-standard paramagnetic O2 analyzer rather than the customary fuel cell oxygen sensor, sensor replacement is never necessary. This eliminates a significant recurring expense. Calibration is fully automatic and takes place at a user-specified interval, so sensor drift is also a thing of the past. Moreover, the ROXY-8 multi-cabinet O2 controller employs barometric pressure compensation to eliminate inaccuracies caused by variations in barometric pressure.

Operation is simple. You enter a setpoint for each cabinet, and the ROXY-8 universal controller pulses the appropriate gas (which you supply) into each cabinet until its setpoint is reached. For example, when controlling oxygen at (say) 10%, it pulses nitrogen into the chamber being regulated. Only enough to reach the user-defined setpoint is added - no more and no less - keeping tank gas use to an absolute minimum.  Sophisticated PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control is used, which guarantees practically zero overshoot or undershoot, and compensates for pressure variations in the gas line. It's as close to perfect control as you can get.

Each regulated cabinet can be any size from 500 ml or so to over 200 liters volume. Each cabinet can have its own unique setpoint, or can be left unregulated if desired. Nitrogen or oxygen purge gases are selected automatically, depending on the required direction of regulation.

Recognizing the importance of its mission, the ROXY-8 measures the pressure of the inlet gases, and automatically switches to a reserve tank if the main tank falls below a user-settable pressure. It also has a comprehensive internal and external alarm system. If the reserve tank pressure is too low, or if the gas sampling system falls out of range, or if the power supply voltage falls outside acceptable limits, an internal alarm sounds and a relay contact opens, which can be used to trigger an external alarm or autodialer.

For research or R&D applications involving generation of controlled atmospheres in multiple locations, the ROXY-8 oxygen controller is a uniquely versatile and useful tool.
