The
Sable Systems SI-2 scanning small insect respirometry system (previously
referred to as the TR-3-M) measures the metabolic
rate (as CO2 emission) of many individual Drosophila melanogaster
successively in real time. It is specifically optimized for reading from large numbers of individual or grouped animals in succession (basically, it is equivalent to our SI-1 system preconfigured for scanning for your convenience in setup). This world-beating system is used by Nobel laureates and
other leading scientists world-wide for cutting-edge research published
in major journals. A reference list is available on request.
No compromize is made in the design of the SI-2 scanning small insect respirometry system.
This is the system of choice for the automated, high-volume measurement of real-time,
individual CO2 production and water vapor loss (an important indicator
of whole-animal status), and for measuring oxygen consumption as well
(for oxygen consumption small groups of flies, or operation in
stop-flow mode, are required). That, in turn, gives you data on RQ and
thus the respiratory substrate utilized by the animal.
Scanning is fully automated, as is baseline measurement and all other aspects of system operation. Data analysis is likewise fully automatable.
Users
refer to this system and the SI-1 as "The planet's finest respirometry system"
(actual customer quote). When measuring the metabolic rates of
individual Drosophila, these systems are the world-wide standard. The
lifetime technical support from published respirometry experts that is
supplied with the system gives you further peace of mind.
