Promethion Core


Multiplexed metabolic and behavioral measurement system for mice that enables greater statistical power with fewer animals and simultaneous testing of more hypotheses.

Promethion Core major advantages include:

Expandability - The system is based on individual wheeled rack modules comprised of 16 cages, independent mass flow controllers, analyzers, pumps, and onboard real-time acquisition and analysis module. Facilities can start with a single rack system. Multiple Promethion Core 16-cage systems can be networked together for unmatched parallel processing power and highest reproducibility, providing the flexibility for simultaneously running multiple studies or one large study on the same equipment.

Web Based Data Management - Real-time animal data can be securely accessed via authorized desktop or mobile devices, including tablets and smart phones.

High Definition Analysis - SableHD™ High Definition Technology provides industry-leading accuracy, highest sampling rate, and unbeatable resolution of rapidly changing metabolic data. This includes preservation of all raw data and directly measured water vapor compensation.

The water-tight instrumentation housing allows the entire rack - including gas analyzers and flow control instrumentation - to be run through the cage washer for easy cleaning.

  1. the number of animals that can be sequentially measured with all the data fully coordinated and synchronized into one database on one computer.  Multiple systems can be used simultaneously on different computers using the IM-3 interface.
  2. the IM-3 enables independent setup and analysis of each animal, researchers can design experiments with a large N (all animals) or multiple experiments with small N that are executed independently of each other.
  3. Continuous respirometry dedicates a single full-time analyzer to each animal (as compared to multiplexed respirometry, which uses a “shared” analyzer to monitor multiple animals).
