  • Analog and serial data outputs
  • Fully computer controllable

DESCRIPTION

The MFC-4 mass flow controller electronics unit can control up to four separate mass flow control valves or mass flow meters simultaneously. It can operate as a stand-alone gas mixer on two to four valves, in addition to operating as a normal mass flow control electronics unit.  It is fully computer-controllable.

Accurate flow control is vital in applications such as respirometry, process control and gas mixing. Conventional flow meters and control valves are temperature- and pressure-dependent, making them unsuitable for critical work.  In contrast, temperature and pressure do not affect MFC-4 valves, which deliver a closely-regulated output continuously corrected to STP.

The MFC-4 mass flow control electronics unit provides the precise supply and control voltages required to power and control industry-standard mass flow control valves and mass flow meters.  It is compatible with most makes of mass flow control valves, including Brooks, Matheson, Unit, Sierra, Tylan, and Sensirion.

The four line alphanumeric display shows the set and read values for all attached mass flow control valves or meters simultaneously. In gas mixing mode, the contributing percentages by each valve and the total flow rate are displayed. Four analog outputs allow the flow rates of attached mass flow controllers and mass flow meters to be read by data acquisition systems. A serial output allows set-points and readings to be logged, and can also be used to control the unit.

specs

Controller/Meter Connectors: Four standard 15-pin D-sub female connectors; cable pin-out provided
Flow Meter Output: BNC, independent for each mass flow device. 0-5 VDC for 0-100% full scale flow
Flow Control Outputs: Independent 0-5 VDC for each device
Gas Mixing Mode: The chosen valves are set to read in absolute flow rate units; the total flow rate is entered, and the percentage contribution of each valve is entered (the last valve’s contribution is automatically calculated); no calculations are required
Power Outputs: Internally generated, isolated supplies of +15.0 VDC and -15.0 VDC at up to 350 mA each per device, isolated from input power; can be used with mass flow devices that have +12VDC, +15 VDVC or +/- 15 VDC input power requirements
Power Requirements: 12-24VDC; universal adapter supplied
Panel Display: Digital, 4 x 16 alphanumeric LCD
Readout: Set and read information for all channels
Serial Output: RS232-8N1; baud rate 9600; both polled and broadcast modes available
