Reuse Policies:

Sable Systems International, Inc. and Sable Systems Europe, GmbH, will support the following reuse policy and options:
1. The purchaser should preferentially examine and document the feasibility of reuse within their own institution before contacting Sable Systems for recycling or take-back authorization and instructions.
2. If the items are potentially reusable, then the purchaser will take one of the following actions:
  A. Re-assign responsibility for the equipment in accordance with their own polices and procedures
  B. Sell the equipment to any other party, but only in accordance with applicable local law and regulations
  C. Provide Sable Systems with a statement that they have no potential current or immediate future use for the item(s) and that they are releasing the title on the item(s) to Sable Systems International, Inc. and returning it for evaluation for reuse. Cost of shipping will be borne by the purchaser.

3. Once it has been determined that the end-users or the purchasing institution has made a reasonable effort to reuse the item/s but has failed to find an interested party the purchaser may return the item/s to one of Sable Systems' Return/Reuse SubCenters for:
  A. repair or re-calibration assessment
  B. for reuse as an instructional, demonstration
  C. product for an upgrade-resell program

The standard RMA process must be used to return the item(s). Sable Systems cannot accept items for repair or return if the decontamination declaration has not been completed.

Return of "End of Life" Products: Policies and Procedures

Sable Systems electronic products are designed and built for a long or indefinite service life. This applies to both individual instruments and to integrated systems with multiple individual units. Therefore, most Sable Systems products can be reused rather than disposed of when the item is not longer useful to the original purchaser. Such reuse is the most logistically and environmentally efficient method of avoiding electronic and electrical waste.

Traditionally, SSI has not offered customers to take back products that the customer no longer wants to use ("End of Life Products") and customers have not approached SSI or SSE with requests for the take back of end-of-life products. However, in keeping with the the spirit of waste-reduction as well as complying with local regulatory expectations including the EEA's WEEE Initiative, Sable Systems International and its commissionaire, Sable Systems Europe, GmbH, have decided that whenever legally obligated or, for other business reasons, it will accept the return of product through a proposed take back process as described in "End-of-Life Return Procedures" below:

Recycling of damaged or obsolete product. Sable Systems International, Inc. and Sable Systems Europe, GmbH, will support the following recycle policy and options:

1. If a product(s) is potentially repairable, it may be reusable. In this case, if the product is no longer under warranty, it should be sent at the expense of the purchaser to one of the two Sable Systems Return Centers. The regular RMA process will be used as for warranted products with a note added that the customer is not interested in repair or replacement, but wishes SSI/SSE to either reuse or recycle the equipment.

2. If the products do not seem reusable or repairable, the purchaser/customer must treat the products as electronicand electrical waste (E-waste). The purchaser may proceed with options as follows:

A) Take the product to a local recycler and, at its own expense and responsibility, organize proper recycling or disposal of the materials. In this case Sable Systems Centers may offer a "self-recycling" incentive to the purchaser against proof of recycling.

B) Ship the product at its own expense to the nearest Sable Systems Recycle/Take-Back Sub-Centers serving their country, state or region. The standard RMA process must be used to return the item(s). Sable Systems cannot accept items for repair or return if the decontamination declaration has not been completed. To learn which Center serves your region, please contact us.

Note: Neither Sable Systems International or Sable Systems Europe will collect Products for recycling unless it is clearly demonstrated by the end-user or their institution that it is legally bound to do so. This policy is established because the territory within the European Union member states adopting the WEEE initiatives is broad and also because each member nation has its own protocols and /or transport may be restricted.
