Human Room CalorimetryJeff Richardson2018-12-17T15:37:27-08:00

Whole room calorimetry is the most powerful research tool available for measuring the detailed time course of human energy expenditure in a natural, unrestrained setting. Energy expenditure can be monitored with excellent temporal resolution, so that the metabolic consequences of different activities can be precisely evaluated. Moreover, whole room calorimetry provides data on the research subject’s relative utilization of metabolic substrates such as fats or carbohydrates.

Whole room calorimetry has been shown in peer-reviewed scientific studies to be a significantly more accurate method of measuring human energy expenditure. For human calorimetry, whole room systems set the gold standard.

Salient Features

  • Accuracy of metabolic measurement system; validation of results
  • Cost, speed and relative ease of installation
  • Real-time, logical user interface
  • User managed calibrations
