The Metabolic
Physiology Meeting
2025
Hosted by the White-McGarrah Lab with support from Sable Systems
APRIL 28 – MAY 1, 2025
SONESTA RESORT
HILTON HEAD ISLAND
SOUTH CAROLINA, USA
The Metabolic Physiology Meeting brings together trailblazers in metabolic physiology research from around the globe. METPHYS2025 will be the third edition of this annual meeting held on the idyllic Hilton Head Island.
The meeting features the latest advances in molecular mechanisms governing metabolic homeostasis, nutrient sensing, metabolic flux, cancer metabolism, and immunometabolism. Providing a dynamic forum for discussion and networking that bridges the many distinct domains of metabolic physiology research.
Alongside invited talks, the meeting also features short talks selected from the abstract submissions. All abstract submissions are guaranteed a spot in the poster session.
THE SABLE AWARD
Each year, the Metabolic Physiology Meeting comes to a close with the presentation of “The Sable Award for Outstanding Contributions to the field of Metabolic Physiology” the presentation of the award is accompanied by a $20,000 honorarium and followed by an award lecture and closing dinner. The prior recipients of the Sable Award are Kathryn Wellen (2023) and Shingo Kajimura (2024) pictured below. Join us in April to discover who will be this year’s recipient of The Sable!
KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Dr. Craig B. Thompson
Craig B. Thompson, MD, leads his research group at the Sloan Kettering Institute within Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he served as President and CEO from 2010 to 2022. He is a member of the National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In addition, he is a fellow of the American Association for Cancer Research and serves on the Lasker Award Committee, the medical advisory board of HHMI, the board of directors at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and Charles River Laboratories, and is a founder of Agios Pharmaceuticals.
Widely recognized for his pioneering contributions to immunology, cancer biology, and translational medicine, Craig is particularly well-known for his groundbreaking work in cancer metabolism. His ongoing research focuses on how cellular metabolism is regulated during cell growth and differentiation, as well as how metabolic changes contribute to the development and progression of cancer. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, Craig has been honored with numerous notable awards, including the Watanabe Prize, the Vallee Award, the Drexel Prize in Cancer Biology, the ASCO Science of Oncology Award, and the ASCI Stanley J. Korsmeyer Award.
