New Promethion Core® Temperature Measurement System (TMS) for Real-Time Remote Monitoring of Mouse Temperature

Sable Systems International is pleased to announce the release of the new Promethion Core Temperature Measurement System (TMS) for remotely monitoring mouse body temperature. The TMS seamlessly integrates with Promethion Core and Promethion Live, enabling the tracking of mouse temperature changes with changes in mouse behavior and metabolism across time.

Traditional temperature measurement methods present challenges for routine use. Many temperature sensors require surgical implantation at a single site, only delivering core body temperature. The surgery and sensor size cause animal stress, lengthy recovery time, and delayed experiments. The TMS uses tiny, injectable temperature-sensing microchips, providing a solution that is easier for the researcher and less stressful on the mouse. The microchips can also be positioned at different body sites enabling the study of tissue specific temperature changes. Researchers now have a new, easy-to-use solution that delivers more research capability.

This integrated system consists of a temperature sensing microchip, a microchip injector, an under-cage mounted antenna for communication with the mouse implanted microchip, a multiplex reader for cage switching and data handling, and a handheld reader for quick temperature scans.
