Description
The Promethion GA-3 and GA-4 represent the latest technology in gas analyzers. The GA-3 includes water vapor, CO2 and O2 analysis, and the GA-4 adds methane analysis. Each analyzer path is contained on a unique Sable engineered individual single blade within a custom electronic enclosure. This not only simplifies system configuration, but also shortens plumbing length between analyzers to minimize lag effects that complicate data analysis. At the core of these analyzers is SableHD™ high definition technology, enabling industry leading resolution of 0.0001%.
The GA-3 and GA-4 samples air from the flow selected by the FR-8 flow generator. The air stream is directed through a manifold, from which a flow controller pulls out an aliquot of the main flow, typically 250 – 400 mL/minute (settable by the user). This aliquot is then pushed through the water vapor analyzer, CO2 analyzer, and O2 analyzer.
The housing interior is regulated at a constant 37 °C, which provides a stable environment for the analyzers and prevents condensation. The GA-3 and GA-4 also contain an accurate, high resolution barometric pressure analyzer. Under command via its Sable Bus interface, the GA-3 can switch a chemical scrubber column into the airstream. This scrubber column removes water vapor from the airstream passing through it, and is used to calibrate the water vapor analyzer using the technique of O2 dilution.* Optionally, it can also remove CO2 and zero the CO2 analyzer. This is the only time that the sample air stream is dried. At all other times, water vapor dilution of O2 and CO2 is compensated for mathematically, using data from the water vapor and barometric pressure analyzers. Promethion GA-3 and GA-4 gas analyzers are the only systems with this capability.
