The PP-2 dual pump system provides two reliable, variable-speed diaphragm pumps that operate on 12 VDC (adapter included). The PP-2 provides flow rates of 0-2 L/min, while the model PP-2-1 provides flow rates of 0-5 L/min. These pump systems are ideal for generating flows for respirometry and gas sampling applications.
The PP-2 is quiet, operates on an uncritical source of 10 – 16 VDC (power supply included), and has two independent pumps. For most applications requiring mass flow control of up to 1 liter/minute or needle-valve-controlled flow rates up to 3 liters/minute, our PP-2 pump unit replaces conventional pumps and surpasses them in convenience and performance.
Because the PP-2 pump unit includes dual variable pump drive controls that allow you to set each pump to the exact drive your application requires, wear and tear on the pumps’ diaphragms is minimized. Unlike conventional pumps, the PP-2 completely isolates the pumped gas stream from ambient air. This means that you can confidently supply carbon-dioxide-scrubbed air with the PP-2, and not experience unwanted ppm-level background noise in your reference air stream.
Each of the PP-2’s internal pumps may be used independently. At low force, each pump can push or pull at least 500 ml/minute through a mass flow controller valve, or through several channels of a flow-control manifold. At high force, the capacity increases up to three-fold. The two pumps can also be run in parallel to increase the total available pumping force by two-fold again.
The PP-2 is especially convenient for respirometry systems intended for small mammals (rat-sized and down), arthropods, amphibians or reptiles, where relatively low flow rates are the norm.
